Summer Days, Drifting away.......

Wow, where has the summer gone? I know it has been awhile since I posted so I feel the need to reflect a little on how fast the season has just flown by. Before long, the leaves will be turning, and the holidays will be on us...the crazy time of the year when everyone is hussling and bussling to get shopping and cooking done...whew, makes me tired just thinking of all that.

I personally am not ready to give up the days of laying by the pool, relaxing with friends by the bar-b-que and drinking cold beer. I am not ready to trade my tank tops and shorts for bulky sweaters and blue jeans. I don't mind sweating while just walking out to the car, and the thermometer reading 106 degrees....I love the dogs swimming in the pool with us, and shaking off on the porch, the smell of the grass right after its been mowed, and the sounds of the birds and the neigbors sprinklers in the mornings while I sit outside with my coffee.

I love no school zones in the morning, or buses rumbling through the neighborhood. I will however appreciate that I can shop without the sounds of elementary school children screaming and running around the stores through the clothing racks with total lack of self control and exasperated mothers praying for school to start back up.

My summer has been beautiful and rather uneventful except for the occasional bar-b-cue or golf tournament. I started my new job, and I am blissfully happy with all that includes..especially working from the comfort of my own home. We have a new puppy, a wonderful anniversary gift from my husband, named Bella and she is such a sweet girl...the best present I could have ever asked for. Tucker is adjusting to her nicely and is enjoying having a playmate that is more his size (or she soon will be). The only downside to the summer was my mother's stroke. She is recovering just fine, but it was very scary and makes me realize that our time here is limited and we should not spend our days with made up illnesses and complaints of things we don't have...rather we should appreciate the blessings that we do have, and enjoy our loved ones every chance we get. Life is far too short, like the summer. It's here, and then just like that, it's gone, and always it is gone too fast...so, Enjoy whats left of it.

A New Year, A New Job, A New Purse....

Well, it's been so long since I posted, I figured I should update for those who care...Christmas was an amazing time, spent with family (32 people in my house) and a great time was had by all. It was an opportunity to show off the new house and all my limited decorating skills to family and to generate enough garbage to fill a small Mexican town. The kids were pleased with their hauls, and the older kids are finding out what it is like to receive things for your home instead of IPODS, XBoxes, etc. We really had a blast. And my hubby was no slouch in the gift department this year AGAIN...I was blessed with a new wallet to match my new Coach bag he gave me a month early, and the Tiffany necklace and earrings to match my bracelet he bought me last year. He is so good!!!

I forgot to mention our Vegas trip which was so much fun but about 2 days too long.
We had a great time at the rodeo. The hotel was beautiful and we had a great room with a really terrific view of the city. I won lots of money$$$ which is so unusual for me, because IF I gamble, I usually lose. But I don't usually gamble because that is shoe or purse money that I could be spending, right? So, I won all this money, and Bill insisted that I go have fun and shop with it, so I couldn't disappoint him....Of course I shopped. Gotta love Vegas. We also took a helicopter ride through the Grand Canyon and it was AMAZING. I thought I would be totally freaked out, but really it was so cool.

New Years Eve was relatively quiet, spent here at home. Brian and Leslie came over to ring in the new year as is our annual B&L tradition...(remember last year Leslie tied one on, then found out she was pregnant the next day upon returning home?) Well, little Travis helped us celebrate this year. Also, Amanda & Todd (friends and my hairdresser) came by, drank alot, then left before midnite. It was fun. New Years day we grilled and ate till we couldn't move....yeah, typical. Anyway, it was fun.

Now, the new job started on the 17th and so far my head is spinning....it is great, and the doctor is really the nicest person. I am just trying to get back in the routine of working, I have been off for so long. Around 2:00 I have a sinking spell and wish I could sit in the recliner and turn on the Food Network before cooking dinner for the hubs. Not to be....busy, busy, busy. It is good, but will take some getting used to. Oh, and my little Tucker is missing me so much....:( Oh well...gotta make money to feed the ever growing purse habit of mine, ya know?

Something Fishy goin' on

Ok, GROSS! Has anyone ever heard of this? It is a "fish" pedicure and it has been outlawed here in Texas....ya think? Now I am a pretty free thinker when it comes to beauty regimens. Some might even say innovative, but this? I have even been known to enjoy having my toes nibbled on by the hubs, but this goes a little far. The concept is that the little innocent fishies will nibble the dead skin off your feet....eeeewww! I realize that fish aren't exactly particular about their diet, but did they really sign up for this? The fish is a type of carp called a Garra Rufa (or doctor fish) and apparently this is all the rage amoung the "jet setters". My other thought is that after a long summer of sandals, flip-flops, and going barefooted, its gonna take a much bigger fish to tackle the dead skin around my heels that even Burts Bees hasn't been able to smooth. My nail lady, Tammy uses a cheese grater on my feet....well, not just on mine but on all the pedicures she does. I was amazed by that! But fish? Gives a whole new meaning to "finding Nemo". Ok, and the fact that they use the same fish to clean multiple customers feet....ok ICK!!!!!!!!!! Well, I am curious if anyone has ever heard of this or even had it done. Please tell me all about it....call it morbid curiosity.
